Hi,

First, I want to express a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ for all the kind and thoughtful comments I got on last week’s lampworking tutorial questions. As I work on Tutorial 103, I’ll keep your ideas in mind. I wish there was a way to have more personal contact and interaction with the tutorials… I would love to have more of a sharing of ideas and support for everyone. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Perhaps having a question and answer session twice a month…?

How to use the Summer Colors in your Lampwork Beads and Jewelry

BOOKMARK this playful experiment below, cause it can be used every time new color trends come out.

I wanted to share with ya’ll some useful information and fun ideas about this Summer’s Color Trends. With Texas weather heating up and becoming steamy, I thought it would be a great time to push our color boundaries with the new 2012 Colors. For more info on Pantone’s NEWEST colors, you can go here.

With names like Tangerine Tango, Solar Power, Margarita and Cockatoo, you know Summer 2012 will be hot and spicy! These bright colors will definitely help you stand out in the crowd.

As we create, let’s remember that the Fashion trends are only a jump start to get our creative juices flowing. Inserting our personality in our jewelry and beads is what makes our work innovative and unique in our field, rather than a follower or copycat.

You’ve probably already made some Summer beads, jewelry, or purchases. So now is a great time to get yourself out of any ruts with what you usually do with your creations. The best way to do this is to get some colored pencils, or use the computer like I did, and start experimenting with the Summer colors. You can make small boxes of colors, playing with what colors look exciting next to each other.

Take some time to play with the colors (we’re building brain cells here!). Making some unusual and out of your comfort zone color combinations will help you come up with fresh, new ideas.

This will help you be more creative designing your jewelry and lampwork beads, and even how you wear your creations.

Try different amounts of the colors in each color combo. Lighten up a color with white or darken it with black to add variety in a color. (I did shades and tones with my color blocks under the two lampwork rose sets above.)

This little playtime will not only put sparkle in your designing, it will also add a freshness and a new perspective to everything you do, (especially for those of you who use your left side of the brain a lot). It’s like taking your brain on a mini vacation!

COMMENT BELOW and share with others one creative thing you do to get yourself out of designing and color ruts? Thank you ahead of time for contributing your special insights to help others grow creatively.
