It’s Spring time here in my part of Texas and my orchids are blooming! This beauty I bought at Walmart last year around Mother’s Day. The bloom is wonderfully speckled, with each bloom having a different variation of purple speckles. Isn’t it sumptuous?

Even the buds have speckles! Biggest No No that kills Phalaenopsis is the peat moss in the pot you buy. Check out more info Phalaenopsis

This season I decide to take pictures of my orchids and share with you what inspires my creative juices! The beauty of these sweet lovelies only come once a year and I impatiently anticipation their arrival! To think they grow wild in some remote jungle and care less if anyone sees their magnificent blooms. I always feel blessed that I am present when they blossom into all their glory!

I was inspired to create this glass lampwork orchid. I wanted to capture the essence of nature’s magnificent creation. It’s my way of connecting with nature and then expressing my vision to others through glass. I love the fact that because I am working in glass, the orchid can be a treasured keepsake forever!

Isn’t the orchid fabulous with 2 rosebuds? Like fresh picked flowers from my garden.

This orchid is a Cymbidium. I have had this awesome orchid for over 10 years and she is a faithful bloomer. Cymbidiums are fairly hardy, love loamy humus soil, plenty of water during the growing season, dapple sunlight outdoors and a slow-release, low nitrogen fertilizer. What a stunning glass lampwork orchid bead this would be! And challenging because of the elongated petals and protruding throat! A new road for me to explore to push my boundaries as a glass artist.

Springtime is always a busy time in my gardens. New life is sprouting underneath tons of dead leaves and plants. Everything needs a good trim and the weeds seem to have taken over!

I hope you have been inspired looking over my shoulder and marveling with me at Mother Nature’s unbelievable ability to constantly create breathtaking beauty!
