I’m doing a Bead Soup Blog Hop again and my partner this time is a sweet, mixed media artist/jewelry designer, Amanda Davie from Luxemburg, Wisconsin. She is a collector of all things that miraculously transform into delightful jewelry in amazing ways. She is inspired by common and everyday items that most would overlook. These seemingly lowly items ignite her imagination and transport her creativity to magical portals of inspiration. Her artwork is infused with positive intentions, a natural rhythm of life, signs, symbols and a desire to uplift others in joy.

Of course I sent Amanda glass lampwork beads…. a fish, a jellyfish and a starfish plus other goodies!

Now for my goodies! They arrived in this wonderfully creative packaging. They were wrapped in a old travel map with a library card as a note card and hand stamped feather!

Inside this incredible wrapping were her precious findings, some everyday, others carefully selected items with special meanings. All were lovingly labeled on admit one tickets.

And here’s the complete stash. The stash consisted mainly of muted, earthy colors but fascinating objects that invited a closer look. There was an array of precious pebbles found along her lake beaches, smokey quartz, a carved glass flower, sweet Vintaj copper sea creatures and a large copper sand dollar plus more goodies.

And here’s what I created!

glass lampwork starfish necklace

The copper sand dollar immediately caught my imagination. It was meant to be a focus but I saw clasp written all over it! I loved the beach etched inspired triangle glass beads in her stash and the yellow crackled agate that looked like it had tumbled in the ocean surf for ages with it’s wore down outer shell.

I knew I needed color for this necklace to be a Patsy Evins’ creation, so I followed the ocean theme and made 6 colorful large and small glass lampwork starfishes as the major theme of the necklace. I also used 2 of my bubble beads that look like air bubbles underwater.

I included chrysocolla gem stone beads for an additional oceany blue feeling, accented with coppery faceted crystals, faceted glass rondels and little deep red seed beads to contrast with the turquoise of the starfish.

So, whatcha think? Like?
