Wedding Bouquets + My Lampwork Bead Art

It’s amazing how life has a way of winding us down our path of opportunities. My niece, who is an editor of a wedding magazine, asked me years ago if I had any jewelry that would fit her magazine. At the time, I wasn’t making a lot of jewelry with my lampwork beads and definitely no wedding jewelry so I said I wasn’t interested.

Going through old emails a few months ago, I came across her email. When I reread it, this time it intrigued me. Why? Well, last November, I created my glass lampwork Victorian floral bouquets and absolutely loved making them. Looking at them, I realized that they would make wonderful wedding bouquets with some tweaking.

That thought lead me to thinking about MY wedding.

Looking back, I regret not having a special keepsake from my wedding day. With all the money we spent on that one day, I had no permanent and endearing keepsake after the day was over. I tried drying and saving my wedding bouquet but, sadly, the flowers crumbled as they aged. Did you try drying your flowers??

And the truth be told, I never look at my wedding album that we spent tons of money on. What I would have loved was a personal keepsake, a piece of jewelry that embodied the essence of my floral wedding bouquet to wear the rest of my life!

Heirloom Glass Art – Lampwork Bead Pendants & Necklaces

So, I’m at a crossroad with my glass lampwork bead art. My dream would be to create for a bride something very rare and personal to treasure from her wedding. It would be exclusively hers, designed around her colors, theme and flowers.

Wouldn’t you love to possess an everlasting glass floral bouquet inspired from your wedding flowers? Every time you worn it, you would be reminded of wonderful memories of your wedding. And the icing on the cake? You could share these wonderful moments from your life with your children through your treasured keepsake and even be able to pass it on for generations.

I would like to also create keepsake glass flowers of the bride’s choice for her bridesmaids, mother, grandmother and other wedding party participants. Wouldn’t that be the ultimate gift for a bride to give to the people closest to her in her life? A truly unique, everlasting glass memento of the joyful day they shared together.

There’s a lot of possible directions for my bridal jewelry. I could make individual glass lampwork floral beads for a bride’s necklace. The bride could pick out her favorite flower or flowers from her bouquet. Or I can create a bouquet using her chosen flowers like my Victorian bouquets.

Looking back, wouldn’t you have loved the ultimate personal remembrance of your wedding to continuously enjoyed throughout your life?

It is a big dream for me with tons of work. To create such personal art glass would be quite time consuming and I would be limited to working with only a couple of brides to be a month.

What do you think about my dream? Do you have any suggestions how I could make it more perfect for a bride? What would you want if this was your wedding and floral bouquet? I would really, really, really LOVE to hear what you think about my idea!! Is my idea crazy?
